Western Psychology Association

A club for students, run by students. The WPA is a social and academic club for those interested in psychology to share interests, gain research or volunteer opportunities and learn about psychology-related fields. We hold social, academic, and volunteer events, and provide the opportunity to connect with professors and graduates in the department. — Books —The Well of Loneliness
by Radclyffe Hall
"Stephen is an ideal child of aristocratic parents—a fencer, a horse rider and a keen scholar. Stephen grows to be a war hero, a bestselling writer and a loyal, protective lover. But Stephen is a woman, and her lovers are women. As her ambitions drive her, and society confines her, Stephen is forced into desperate actions."
Stone Butch Blues
by Leslie Feinburg
"Woman or man? This internationally acclaimed novel looks at the world through the eyes of Jess Goldberg, a masculine girl growing up in the "Ozzie and Harriet" McCarthy era and coming out as a young butch lesbian in the pre-Stonewall gay drag bars of a blue-collar town. Stone Butch Blues traces a propulsive journey, powerfully evoking history and politics while portraying an extraordinary protagonist full of longing, vulnerability, and working-class grit. This once-underground classic takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride of gender transformation and exploration and ultimately speaks to the heart of anyone who has ever suffered or gloried in being different."
The Gifts of the Body
by Rebecca Brown
A collection of short stories from the perspective of a care worker during the AIDS epidemic.
